How It Works

  • The RMS Cordis-3 records the patient’s ECG signals continuously for 24 hours using three ECG leads.
  • The data is stored on a secure SDHC memory card while the patient carries out normal daily activities. After the monitoring period, the device is connected to a computer through the RMS analysis software, which processes the data and generates detailed ECG reports
  • This process helps doctors identify arrhythmias, ischemic episodes, QT prolongation, and other subtle cardiac irregularities that short-term ECGs may miss.

How to use

  1. Set up the device: Insert freshly charged AA batteries, insert an SDHC card, and ensure the LED status indicators are functioning.
  2. Attach electrodes: Place leads per the three-channel protocol and ensure good skin contact; explain to the patient how the device stays with them for the entire 24-hour period.
  3. Start recording: Activate the recorder. The LED will signal a successful start and storage status.
  4. Patient instructions: Ask the patient to carry on normal activities (including sleep) and press the event button if symptomatic. Instruct them not to wipe off electrodes and to wear the belt/clip as provided.
  5. Return device: After 24 hours, the patient returns the recorder; download the data via SDHC card or direct USB (if applicable) for analysis on the workstation.
  6. Analysis & report: Use the analytic software to review full-disclosure data, review arrhythmia episodes, ST/Qt/QTc segments; generate PDF and email/share as needed.
  7. Store/report: Archive data, maintain logs, and maintain battery/SDHC card consumables. My experience shows consistent uptime when battery substitution and card maintenance are scheduled.
